Illustrator: Xanthe Turner

Xanthe Turner, illustrator of Zany Circus: Paradox

Xanthe is a fourteen year old girl who has a passion for art, guitar, piano, singing, animals, dragons, and reading. Some of her greatest inspirations are her mum and her art teacher Cindy, who inspired her and gave her the ability to draw and perform as confidently as she does now.

Xanthe can often be found playing her guitar, singing, drawing, or carrying around her bag of drawing supplies and sketchbooks. She literally never leaves the house without them.

On a free day, her favourite way to relax is to draw, learn new songs, read new and old books, play with her siblings and cat, watch her favourite shows, and hang out with her mum.

Xanthe’s illustrated middle grade novel, Zany Circus: Paradox, published by Aulexic, is set to take flight in an amazing circus launch on April 15th 2017.

I keep thinking “talented” too but I resist using it in reference to Xanthe because it’s very clear the reason she’s so “talented” is because she’s worked really, really hard to learn and practice and put in the time and effort to be great. 🙂 I guess that’s what “talent” really is, but so many people think talent is just natural-born ability that I never wanted to discount Xanthe’s hard work by having people just assume she was born gifted. I mean, obviously she was born with some pretty awesome gifts, but I think it’s her grit, determination, and passion are the true “talents” and the reason she draws, sings, and performs so beautifully. 🙂
